Therapy, Counseling & Psychological Consultation In Santa Fe, New Mexico
Licensed Psychologist John Chambers Christopher, Ph.D maintains a private counseling practice in Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico. He treats a range of emotional and behavioral concerns in his therapy practice including: anxiety, stress depression, well-being, self-care, multicultural psychology, transitions, spirituality, chronic pain, health concerns, psychosomatic medicine, mind-body medicine, emotion regulation, loss and grief.
Integrating my extensive mind-body training and research with the best of traditional psychotherapy and counseling techniques, I help clients reduce their stress response and improve immune functioning for optimal emotional and physical health. I do this by helping individuals better understand how their autonomic nervous system works and discover tools to work with the inner states that limit their ability to function optimally in areas of their lives. I welcome working with patients who have medical concerns, diagnoses, chronic pain and other related symptoms. I also have expertise in multicultural counseling and enjoy a diverse practice.
In my Bozeman and Santa Fe counseling practice working with individuals and couples, I draw on psychodynamic and interpersonal principles combined with research on social and cognitive development, including the neurobiology of attachment. I also have extensive training in a number of body-centered or somatic practices including Focusing, Hakomi, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC).
